Installation method and precautions of butterfly valve

1. Direction

In theory, the butterfly valve can be installed in any direction. It is recommended to install the valve shaft horizontally, so that the bearings at both ends will not be at the bottom (below), so as to prevent the sediment in the medium from entering the bearing.

2. Water inlet pipe configuration

When there are elbows and T-tubes on the water inlet side of the butterfly valve, when the fluid is bent and unevenly distributed and flows into the valve, a bias flow will occur in the pipe. Therefore, the bias flow generated must be evenly arranged on both sides of the butterfly plate to avoid the occurrence of both sides of the butterfly plate. Unevenly loaded and may generate additional moments.

3. Outlet pipe configuration

If it is on the pipeline, in order not to bear the force and bending moment from the applied axial direction on the valve, it is better to set the expansion joint on the outlet side of the valve. The valve water pressure when the valve is opened and closed should not be borne by the feet, but should be borne by the pipeline through the flange of the valve.

4. Installation size

Butterfly valves are generally short in length, and their discs will extend into adjacent pipes or other components, so be careful not to collide and interfere with other parts. In addition, it is necessary to prevent the large error of the inner diameter of the matching pipe from colliding with the butterfly plate.

5. Matters needing attention

Butterfly valve is used for regulating nothing more than regulating flow and pressure. The adjustment of the valve is achieved by the loss of pressure.

The relationship between the flow rate and the rotation angle of the butterfly valve is like an integral symbol, which is parabolic. When the turning angle is increased in the specific case where the disc opening is greater than 60°, the change in flow rate is small. Similarly, there is a similar situation when the disc rotation angle is less than 15°.

In order to obtain a good adjustment effect, the following points should be paid attention to:

a. The loss of the regulating valve accounts for at least 1/3 of the system.

b. In order to achieve a good adjustment effect, the diameter of the valve is often smaller than that of the corresponding pipe.
