Butterfly valve sealing and gate valve sealing which is good

In the selection of pipeline engineering, many construction personnel will be confused about the tightness of butterfly valve and gate valve which is better. Butterfly valve and gate valve are the two most frequently used valves in the pipeline system, widely used in water supply and drainage, HVAC, chemical industry, gas and other conditions. The sealing structure of the two is quite different, the sealing effect and the applicable scene are very different, and the wrong choice is easy to cause problems such as medium leakage, pipeline pressure relief and energy consumption increase.

First, the sealing performance of the gate valve. Gate valve adopts gate double-sided metal hard seal structure, relying on the gate and valve seat to precisely fit the cut-off medium, high sealing accuracy, and zero leakage can be achieved under standard working conditions. Whether it is water, oil, high-pressure steam or gas media, the gate valve can effectively block the flow of media after closing. Its shortcoming lies in the poor adaptability of resilient, the impurity medium is easy to wear the sealing surface, and the long-term half-open state is easy to damage the sealing structure, which is only suitable for the full open and full close truncation condition.

Look at the sealing performance of the butterfly valve. Butterfly valve is divided into two kinds of resilient and mental seat, resilient butterfly valve relies on rubber sealing ring to seal, normal temperature water, ventilation pipe sealing is excellent, but high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance ability is weak, the sealing ring is easy to aging deformation, leakage in high temperature environment. mental seat butterfly valve metal contact surface has a fine gap, can not achieve absolute zero leakage, the overall sealing accuracy is far less than the gate valve, only suitable for the sealing requirements of the medium general conditions.

It can be concluded that the sealing performance of gate valve is better than that of butterfly valve. Gate valves are preferred for high pressure, high temperature and fluid truncation scenarios with strict sealing requirements and zero leakage. Ordinary normal temperature water supply and drainage, ventilation, large flow conditions, the pursuit of cost-effective resilient butterfly valve can be selected. Reasonable selection can ensure the stable operation of the pipeline system and reduce leakage failure.
