What valve does the tap water supply pipeline use

The non-replaceable nature of water and the necessity of people's survival determine the importance of safe operation of water supply network. However, due to subjective and objective reasons, the pipeline often has some failures, the pipe network always has to be constantly updated and reformed, and the water users often have to increase or decrease, so the water supply phenomenon of the local pipe section is difficult to avoid. In order to reduce the scope of water outage, it is necessary to install control valves properly in the pipe network. Therefore, in a city's water supply network, the number of valves is thousands and irregular distribution under the city streets. What are the valves of the tap water supply network?

The commonly used valves for tap water supply are: butterfly valve, gate valve, ball valve, plug valve.

In order to reduce the depth of soil cover in the tap water pipe network, the butterfly valve is generally selected for the larger diameter pipe, which has little impact on the depth of soil cover, and strive to select the gate valve, and the dividing line of the caliber should be considered according to the specific situation.

The main disadvantage of butterfly valve is that the butterfly plate occupies a certain cross section and increases a certain head loss; Although the gate valve has no such problem, the height of the large diameter vertical gate valve affects the soil cover depth of the pipeline, and the length of the large diameter horizontal gate valve increases the transverse area of the pipeline and affects the arrangement of other pipelines. Ball valve and plug valve maintain the water section of gate valve, and overcome its shortcomings. Ball valve has the advantages of simple structure, small flow resistance, reliable sealing, flexible action, easy maintenance and operation. Plug valves have similar advantages. Ball valves and plug valves are heavier than butterfly valves, casting and processing difficulties, the price is more expensive, generally suitable for small and medium-sized diameter pipelines.
