What are the differences between check valves and butterfly valves

In industrial and civil facilities, valves are key control elements. Check valves and butterfly valves are common valve types that have different structures and applications.

First, structural differences

Check valve: A check valve is a valve designed to prevent fluid from flowing back in one direction. Its main components include valve body, valve cover, valve disc and spring. When the fluid flows in a predetermined direction, the valve cover opens to allow the fluid to pass through. However, when the fluid flows back, the valve disc is closed by the reverse impact force of the fluid, thus preventing the fluid from flowing back.

Butterfly valve: A butterfly valve is a valve that controls the flow of fluid by rotating a disc. The structure is composed of a valve body, a valve cover, a valve stem and a valve disc. The disc is located inside the valve body and is connected to the operating device via the stem. The flow of fluid is regulated by rotating the valve disc.

Second, functions and application areas

Check valve: The main function of the check valve is to prevent the reverse flow of fluid, thereby protecting equipment and piping systems from damage caused by the reverse flow. It is commonly used in liquid or gas piping systems, such as water supply systems, sewage treatment, chemical and petroleum industries. For example, in water supply systems, check valves can prevent the flow of water from the water supply line to reverse the flow and avoid water supply interruptions.

Butterfly valve: Butterfly valve is mainly used to control the flow of fluid, in the need to quickly cut off or adjust the flow of the occasion more used. They are widely used in industry, construction, fire, sewage treatment and other fields. For example, butterfly valves are commonly used in heating and cooling systems to control the flow of cooling or hot water. In addition, butterfly valves are also widely used in the chemical industry for fluid control and transportation.
